What We Are Looking For
Baylor University is seeking an Assistant Director of Student Engagement & Governance to provide leadership for student organization development, engagement initiatives, and leadership education within Student Activities. This position oversees the student organization event approval process, new organization chartering, and signature engagement initiatives while fostering meaningful involvement opportunities that promote student belonging, leadership development, and organizational success. The Assistant Director supervises professional and graduate staff and contributes to the strategic advancement of the Student Engagement & Governance portfolio.
A Master’s degree and three years of relevant work experience are required. A Master’s degree and five years of relevant experience are preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of one another.
Preference will be given to candidates with applicable Baylor experience.
All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
Provide leadership and oversight for the student organization experience, including management of the student organization event approval process, organizational compliance, policy implementation, risk management education, and organizational development initiatives
Ensure student organizations operate effectively and align with university policies and expectations while supporting student engagement and success
Manage the chartering process for new student organizations from initial inquiry through university recognition
Advise student leaders on organizational development, governance structures, constitutions, and sustainability planning
Develop resources and educational opportunities that support organizational effectiveness and long-term success
Develop and implement leadership development programs, officer training initiatives, and educational opportunities that strengthen student leadership capacity and governance knowledge
Coordinate and assess engagement initiatives that foster student involvement, belonging, and leadership growth
Lead the planning, implementation, and assessment of Late Night and other assigned engagement initiatives
Collaborate with campus partners to create welcoming and meaningful involvement opportunities that connect students with organizations, resources, and leadership experiences
Supervise assigned professional and graduate staff, providing mentorship, performance management, and professional development
Contribute to departmental assessment efforts, strategic planning, process improvement initiatives, and the advancement of Student Engagement & Governance priorities
Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
Ability to comply with university policies
Maintain regular and punctual attendance
