Job Description

Hersheypark amusement park spans 121-acres, and welcomes guests to experience Hersheypark Happy all year long! As the largest amusement park in Pennsylvania, Hersheypark is home to more than 70 rides including 15 coasters and 20+ kiddie rides, as well as a zoo, and an entire water park.

This position oversees the planning and implementation of public safety & physical security programs to ensure a safe environment across the Hersheypark Entertainment Complex (Hersheypark, Hersheypark Stadium, Hersheypark Arena, GIANT Center, and the Hershey Theatre). Key responsibilities include safeguarding people, protecting physical assets, and developing public safety procedures based on vulnerability assessments. Additionally, this role contributes in creating annual operating budgets, supports long- and short-term strategic planning, fosters staff development, and cultivates collaborative relationships with the Hershey Entities, law enforcement agencies, industry peers, and regulatory bodies.

Job Duties (Duties marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this job):

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director and other company stakeholders to maintain high operational readiness; conduct vulnerability and risk assessments, process information to formulate event security plans, and recommend strategic and operational adjustments based on known and anticipated threats. *
  • Assist in developing and executing crisis management, emergency preparedness, and business continuity plans. *
  • Manage physical security programs, including CCTV, intrusion alarms, access control, and threat detection systems. *
  • Analyze data to generate reports supporting the Senior Director and other company stakeholders in the creation of operating and capital budgets for public safety and physical security initiatives.
  • Evaluate and recommend vendors to mitigate emerging risks and enhance Hersheypark Entertainment Complex's public safety readiness. *
  • Serve as a liaison with the Hershey Entities, law enforcement, and other public safety partners to ensure seamless, collaborative operations. *
  • Provide on-site security leadership for events, acting as the designated Security Department duty representative. *
  • Coordinate, conduct and review internal investigations. Ensure investigations are thorough, timely, and align with established policies and procedures.
  • Direct and supervise full-time and part-time security personnel, ensuring effective deployment and performance. Lead and coach team members through regular performance meetings, fostering professional growth and positive working relationships. *
  • Represent the Safety & Security Department at industry meetings, trade conferences, and external forums.
  • Coordinate, document, and evaluate comprehensive post-incident after-action reviews to drive continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Minimum of 5 year(s) of supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Amusement Park, Hospitality/Tourism, Public Safety, or a related industry
  • Associate's degree in Hospitality Management, Human Resources, Criminal Justice, Risk Management, Security & Loss Prevention, Emergency Management, or a related field.
  • Relevant work experience can be substituted for education - 5 years.
  • In accordance with Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law, candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse), and Fingerprint-based federal criminal history submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent (FBI), as a condition of continued employment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must complete Responsible Alcohol Management Program (RAMP) certification training.
  • Must obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Certified Protection Officer, OCAT, PATH, PPCD

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Skilled in the use of Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
