Job Description
The Assistant Director, under general direction, assists the Director in all aspects of departmental operations and maintains responsibility for a major functional unit(s) within a department.
A Presidential Proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on all new H‑1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025, and Texas A&M University–Central Texas will not pay this fee. Additionally, a moratorium issued by Governor Abbott on January 27, 2026, restricts the filing of new H‑1B petitions unless approved by the Texas Workforce Commission. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops, implements, and assesses recruitment strategies to meet institutional enrollment goals for first-time students, transfers, and special populations.
- Analyzes enrollment data and trends to inform recruitment initiatives and align efforts with the university’s strategic plan.
- Collaborates with campus partners (Admissions, Marketing, Financial Aid, Academic Affairs) to ensure cohesive recruitment messaging and practices.
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates recruitment staff to ensure consistent performance and professional growth.
- Provides leadership in territory management, call campaigns, and outreach activities.
- Ensures accountability in daily operations and supports staff in achieving individual and team goals.
- Builds and sustains partnerships with high schools, community colleges, and community organizations.
- Serves as primary liaison for external stakeholders to expand recruitment pipelines.
- Represents the university at state, regional, and national recruitment events and professional organizations.
- Oversees the planning and execution of major recruitment events (e.g., preview days, counselor luncheons, transfer fairs).
- Coordinates with internal and external partners to ensure successful event outcomes.
- Provides logistical and supervisory support for high-impact recruitment initiatives.
- Identifies and pursues emerging recruitment opportunities that align with institutional goals (e.g., military-connected students, dual credit/early college high school partnerships, workforce pathways).
- Assists with division-wide projects and represents the office in cross-campus committees as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Six years of related experience.
Salary: $55,412
Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Nights and weekends as needed.
Supervision of Others: This position will supervise employees.
Work Location: This is not a remote position. The selected candidate will be required to work on campus.
