We are seeking a compassionate, driven, and experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON – RN) to join our leadership team. Responsibilities

Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON - RN):

  • Clinical leader supporting the Director of Nursing daily oversight of clinical care
  • Monitor staff clinical skills and hold staff accountable to given rules & regulations of the facility
  • Communicate consistently with Director of Nursing to discuss current issues, recommendations for improvement and updates on ongoing issues
  • Assist Director of Nursing with regular staff meetings
  • Supervise/ assess staff competencies and give real time feedback to employees
  • Provide staff education, facilitate continuing education and yearly educational requirements
  • Execute and analyze nursing audits and make recommendations for improvement
  • Verify that staff are following individual plans of care and ISP’s for each resident
  • Complete risk assessments and investigate any unusual occurrences or clinical incidents
  • Prepare schedules for the facility
  • Work in collaboration with HR in the recruitment of new staff
  • Monitor new employee (s) education throughout their 90 day evaluation period
  • Address any complaints made by family members or members of the care team
  • Responsible for notification to DHS if child abuse suspected in accordance with Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) policies when Director of Nursing not available
  • Remain knowledgeable of PA code chapters 3800 and 6400 regulating group homes and residential facilities

Qualifications

Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON - RN):

  • Registered nurse (RN) with a valid PA nursing license, BSN required
  • Proven work experience as a nursing leader and educator
  • Minimum of three years ’ nursing experience, pediatrics preferred
  • BLS required, PALS or ENPC preferred
  • Experience with performance improvement, infection control and regulatory processes
  • Knowledge of chronic or acutely ill pediatric patient population and their cognitive and developmental needs
  • Team management skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
  • Well-developed verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Recognized as a mature leader with the ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations
  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, families, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors. To ensure a safe, collaborative, and supportive environment, the employee must possess the ability to effectively read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or higher level in order to communicate clearly, provide quality care and education, and maintain effective professional interactions with residents, families, staff, and leadership.
