Examples of duties

This position supports the administration of nursing services and helps ensure that residents receive safe, high-quality, person-centered care. The role provides leadership in clinical operations, regulatory compliance, staff supervision, and coordination with interdisciplinary partners. As a Assistant Director of Nursing, you will perform the following duties:

  • Clinical Oversight: Coordinate nursing services to ensure resident needs are met according to standards and regulations
  • Care Monitoring: Review resident conditions and ensure that changes are documented and communicated promptly
  • Regulatory Compliance: Support activities related to surveys, corrective actions, and policy implementation
  • Staff Leadership: Provide supervision, coaching, and performance guidance for nursing personnel
  • Operational Support: Assist with planning, scheduling, and resource management to maintain efficient nursing operations
  • Quality Improvement: Participate in quality assurance efforts to monitor trends, identify risks, and support improvement measures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
  • Work hours are 2nd shift (11:00 AM to 7:30 PM), Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will follow a flex schedule, and evening or weekend work may be required.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years as a Registered Nurse Supervisor or three years as a Registered Nurse Instructor (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job titles, as determined by the Office of Administration) in a facility providing care and services for people with a mental or physical injury, illness, or developmental disability; or
  • Six years of professional nursing experience, which includes one year in a supervisory or consultative capacity providing nursing care and services for people with a mental or physical injury, illness, or developmental disability; and a bachelor's degree in nursing, nursing education, or nursing administration. A master's degree in nursing, nursing education, or nursing administration may be substituted for up to one year of the required general professional nursing work experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year in a supervisory or consultative capacity providing nursing care and services for people with a mental or physical injury, illness, or developmental disability.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • If you possess an active temporary practice permit, you must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
