Job Description

The AssistantDirector of Intercultural Programs and Initiatives (the AssistantDirector), reporting to the Director of Intercultural Programs and Initiatives, plays a key role in supporting and implementing efforts that strengthen belonging across the campus. The AssistantDirectorwillassistinthedevelopmentanddeliveryofprogramsandresourcesfor students from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, with particular attention to those who have historically faced barriers to access in higher education.

The Assistant Director will work closely with student cultural clubs/organizations, faculty, and staff to ensure that community-based and student-centered initiatives are well supported and aligned with campus priorities. This position will also be involved in outreach,programcoordination,andstudentmentorship,withanemphasisonfosteringa campus environment where all students can connect and thrive.

Thisroleisessentialinbuildingcollaborativerelationshipsacrosstheinstitutiontoengage students and enrich their experiences both inside and outside the classroom.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

StudentInteractionandSupport(40%)

·Providementorshipanddirectsupporttostudents,particularlythosewhomayhave been historically excluded or face barriers to opportunity in higher education.

·Assistindevelopingandimplementingstrategiestostrengthenstudentengagement, leadership opportunities, and learning across cultures and perspectives.

·Provideguidanceonprogramdevelopmentandevent planning.

·Serveas a pointofcontactfor studentsseekingresources, advice,and support.

·Assistintailoredoutreachthatcreatesopportunitiesforconnectionandcommunity- building across the HWS community.

ProgramEngagementandCoordination (40%)

· Assist in the planning and execution of campus events such as the annual MLK commemoration, first-generation student programs, and heritage and identity celebrations.

· Helpcoordinateandcarryoutcommunity-buildingeventsthatencouragedialogue across differences.

AdministrativeandCollaborativeResponsibilities (20%)

· Assistinthesupervisionandtrainingofstudentworkersand staff.

· Trackandassesstheeffectivenessofprogramsdeliveredandrecommend improvements.

· WorkcloselywiththeDirectortoalignprogrammingstrategieswithinstitutional goals.

· Representtheofficeoncampuscommitteesandworkinggroups,contributingto broader community-engagement initiatives.

· Assistinoutreachtoexternalpartners,buildingcollaborationsthatstrengthen student belonging and success.

OTHER INFORMATION

This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits eligible, salaried exempt position. This position description is not all-inclusive; other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.TheAssistantDirectorwillberequiredtoparticipateineveningprogrammingand workcollaborativelyacrossdepartmentstoadvancecommunityandengagementpriorities. This position will also perform the requirements as a Campus Security Authority pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (20 U.S.C. §1092 (f) (Clery Act). Annual salary is $63,426.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’sdegreefromanaccreditedinstitutionofhigher education.

· 2–3yearsofprofessionalexperienceinhighereducation,studentaffairs,orarelated field; comparable experience in community-based organizations or other settings supporting youth or young adults will also be considered.

· Demonstratedabilitytosupportstudentswhohavefacedbarrierstoaccessor opportunity in higher education.

· Experienceplanning,coordinating,andassessingstudentprogramsand events.

· Strongcommunication,interpersonal,andorganizationalskills.

· Abilitytobuildcollaborativerelationshipswith students,faculty,staff,and community partners.

· Experiencesupervisingor mentoringstudentworkers orvolunteers ispreferred.

· ProficiencyinMicrosoftOfficeapplications(e.g.,Word,Excel, PowerPoint).
