A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HEALTH AND CODE DIRECTOR
As the Assistant Director of Health and Code, you spend your day performing a variety of leadership and technical duties in support of the Health and Code Department. Additionally, your work involves scheduling, assigning and evaluating health, animal care and code enforcement program activities; while managing enforcement field officers and administrative support staff directly. You will work with various municipalities and other public agencies, and complete other duties as required. You may also assist with planning, directing, managing and overseeing the activities and operations of the department of Health and Code while supervising the work of others and may serve as a lead worker providing direction to others. You will also make recommendations to the Director for updates to existing or enacting new, ordinances for the city that address systemic nuisance problems and seek the City's attorney advice through the Director and input where necessary. You will also assist in developing goals for the City's Code Enforcement Program that reflects an awareness of private property rights and evaluate effectiveness of work program to accomplish these goals. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed.
