Overview

We are seeking an experienced, driven, and hands-on Assistant Director of Engineering to support the daily operations of our engineering department in a premier downtown Nashville 30-story high-rise hotel. This role is ideal for a technically strong leader who is ready to grow into the next steps of their career.

The Assistant Director of Engineering is responsible for assisting in oversight of the hotel facility as well as monitoring and controlling parts and labor expenditures. Will assist in managing the department within budget, accurately forecast expenses and assist in preparing the annual department budget. Ensure department staff is trained in control procedures as outlined by Internal Audit, and that these procedures are consistently followed. Assist in selecting, training and developing employees to deliver committed customer service by soliciting and responding promptly to guest needs. This position will require a "hands-on" leadership approach at all times.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of engineering experience in a hotel or comparable facilities environment
  • 2–4 years of supervisory experience, with proven success leading teams of 3+ associates (experience managing 6+ preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Experience developing, implementing, and managing preventive maintenance programs
  • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics across mechanical and electrical systems, with opportunities for continued growth
  • Plumbing systems, including pumps and pressure systems
  • Fire and life safety systems, including fire alarms and suppression systems
  • HVAC systems, including chilled water systems, and familiarity with Building Management Systems
  • Vendor coordination, contractor oversight.
