The Opportunity

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) is seeking an innovative and student-centered Assistant Director of Engaged, Experiential, and Entrepreneurial (E3) Career Development to design and lead career development and experiential learning opportunities that prepare students for success in a global workforce.

This position will oversee and expand opportunities including study abroad, study away, CALS Global Fellows, and other domestic and international experiential learning programs. The Assistant Director will collaborate with faculty and staff across CALS to develop new programs, support students participating in E3 opportunities, and connect experiential learning to career readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop innovative career development and experiential learning programs, including domestic and international opportunities that connect students' academic experiences with career readiness.
• Lead and oversee existing and newly developed programs, including study abroad, study away, CALS Global Fellows, and other engaged learning opportunities.
• Advise students on career development and provide guidance to students exploring or participating in E3 programs and experiential learning opportunities.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff across CALS to develop, implement, and strengthen engaged and experiential learning programs.
• Evaluate program feasibility, effectiveness, and impact, identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
• Partner with the CALS Director of Career Development on strategic planning, program development, and initiatives that advance student career readiness.

This is a full-time (40 hours/week) Contract College position based in Ithaca, NY. This position follows a 4:1 campus-to-home hybrid work arrangement. This hybrid work arrangement is subject to change at any time. Work hours are 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Thursday, and 8:00am-3:30pm on Fridays, with one evening teaching commitment during the fall and spring semesters for seven weeks each semester.

About the Office of Student Services

The Office of Student Services collaborates with CALS students to help define and navigate their undergraduate journey, offering a centralized hub of resources that unlock transformative opportunities aligned with their academic goals. Students receive comprehensive guidance and support across various areas, including academic advising, resource navigation, degree tracking, career planning, experiential learning (such as research, internships, and international programs), skill development, graduate school preparation, and job search strategies.

What We Need

We are seeking a team member with a forward-thinking approach to career development and a commitment to preparing students for an increasingly global workforce. The ideal candidate will have international experience, such as living, working, or studying abroad, along with a strong understanding of diverse cultures and global perspectives. Additionally, you will have:

• A Bachelor's degree and 3 – 5 years’ experience in career services, student services or related field/department or equivalent combination.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proactive approach to work responsibilities.
• Proven ability to navigate complex projects with all stakeholders.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people.
• Project management skills, ability to bridge academics, students and experiences.
• Experience working independently while supporting the efforts of the overall team.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and influence skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities.
• Experience modeling values that support inclusion, belonging, and wellbeing.
• The ability to advocate for individuals from a broad range of backgrounds.
• The ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

• Master’s degree.
• 3-5 years’ experience in business, a corporate setting and/or equivalent combination of education and experience

• remotely 1 day per week and on-campus 4 days per week. The university reserves the right to modify, suspend, revoke or terminate the hybrid work arrangement at any time.

• multiple W-2 Forms depending on their work location. The New York Convenience of employer guidelines require New York State individual tax reporting and withholding for this position.
