Salary Range: $65,500.00 - $65,500.00 Salary/yearThe Assistant Director of Day and Employment Services supports the Director in overseeing the daily operations and quality of multiple community-based programs in Dutchess and Orange counties, including day habilitation, after-school programs, supported employment, and pre-vocational services. The Assistant Director provides supervision, coaching, and guidance to program supervisors; ensures regulatory and documentation compliance; and assists in the coordination of person-centered services that promote social, educational, vocational, and community inclusion outcomes. This position plays a key role in supporting program consistency across sites, facilitating communication, and assisting with implementing new initiatives, in alignment with agency goals and participant needs.
Key Responsibilities
Program Support & Supervision
- Assists the Director in the overall management of Day and Employment Services, serving as a support and resource to Day Services Supervisors across both counties.
- Provides leadership and oversight to program supervisors in developing, implementing, and monitoring measurable, person-centered outcomes that advance individual growth, skill development, community engagement, and independence across all Day and Employment Services.
- Provides consistent supervision, guidance, and performance feedback to program supervisors and designated staff.
- Participates in the interview and onboarding process of new staff as requested.
- Helps coordinate schedules, staffing patterns, and coverage to ensure program continuity and safety.
Program Operations & Compliance
- Supports the development, review, and implementation of day habilitation plans and service documentation as part of the interdisciplinary team process.
- Assists with reviewing monthly summaries, data sheets, attendance, and six-month reviews for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- May attend IDT meetings in collaboration with, or in the absence of, program supervisors.
- Conducts regular site visits to monitor health, safety, cleanliness, and environmental compliance; submits work orders as necessary.
Communication & Collaboration
- Maintains ongoing communication with individuals receiving services, families/advocates, Care Managers, and other providers to support individualized needs.
- Collaborates with community partners to facilitate meaningful, integrated activities and avoid duplication of services.
Transportation & Logistics Oversight
- Assists the Director in coordinating transportation needs, including schedules and vehicle availability.
- Supports oversight of agency vehicle maintenance in partnership with the Facilities Coordinator.
Administrative & Fiscal Support
- Helps review petty cash, monthly audits, and expenditures, and provides information needed for budget monitoring and cost-containment efforts.
- Assists in preparing reports and updates for Director-level, Senior Council, or departmental meetings.
ACCES-VR Support & Coordination
- Supports the coordination of ACCES-VR (Adult Career and Continuing Education Services – Vocational Rehabilitation) services across Day and Employment programs.
- Assists with tracking referral activity, intake processes, service documentation, and progress reporting.
- Collaborates with job coaches, employment specialists, employers, ACCES-VR counselors, and internal teams to help ensure service delivery meets required timelines and standards.
- Ensures staff receive training and support related to ACCES-VR documentation, service expectations, and communication protocols.
- Helps monitor compliance, outcome reporting, and billing accuracy for ACCES-VR services.
- Assists the Director in identifying opportunities to strengthen employment pathways and enhance vocational services.
Working Conditions
- Work is typically performed in community-based settings, day program sites, and administrative offices.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required based on program needs.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in the I/DD field in a supervisory position.
- Experience with vocational training and employment services strongly preferred.
