The Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM) is seeking an Assistant Director, Information Technology to join the Katz IT team. Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, this position plays a key role in overseeing the day-to-day delivery of technology services that support students, faculty, and staff across the School's academic, research, and administrative environments.

As a member of the Katz IT team, you will oversee the daily delivery of technology services, including desktop support, classroom and audiovisual technology, hardware procurement, endpoint and device lifecycle management, technology asset management, and end-user support. You will supervise technology support staff, coordinate operational activities, and work closely with the Director of Information Technology to ensure reliable, responsive, and customer-focused technology services across the School of Medicine.

You will collaborate with university departments, health system partners, vendors, and School of Medicine stakeholders to plan, implement, and support technology initiatives that enhance the user experience and advance institutional priorities. This role also contributes to operational planning, service improvement, technology lifecycle planning, project implementation, and the development of efficient, sustainable technology solutions that support the school’s mission.

This position offers the opportunity to help lead a talented technology support team while contributing to the continued growth and modernization of technology services within the Lewis Katz School of Medicine. This is a hybrid position based on Temple University's Health Sciences Campus.

Required Education and Experience:
*Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required.
*A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT support, operations, or a related field, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
*An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience:
*Experience in a higher education, academic medicine, or health sciences environment.

Responsibilities:
*Oversee and mentor technology support staff responsible for desktop support, classroom technology, audiovisual services, and end-user support.
*Oversee the daily delivery of technology services, ensuring responsive customer support and operational excellence.
*Coordinate technology support for classrooms, conference rooms, special events, and institutional activities.
*Oversee technology procurement, inventory management, asset tracking, and device lifecycle planning.
*Collaborate with the software education group to ensure applications run successfully on Temple University (TU) standard hardware
*Collaborate with university departments, health system partners, vendors, and external service providers to support technology initiatives.
*Assist in planning and implementing classroom technology upgrades, equipment refresh initiatives, and instructional technology improvements.
*Participate in operational planning, process improvement initiatives, and technology projects supporting the School of Medicine.
*Develop and maintain operational procedures, documentation, and service standards.
*Identify opportunities to improve technology services, operational workflows, and the customer experience.
*Monitor operational performance and recommend improvements that enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
*Exercise independent judgment in resolving operational issues while escalating strategic or institution-wide matters to the Director as appropriate.
*Assist the Director in operational planning and technology roadmap initiatives.
*Coordinate technology support for special events (e.g., Match Day, Board of Visitors meetings, alumni events, town halls, symposiums, and special lectures).
*Assist in the coordination and planning of technology needs for new or expanding LKSOM locations, including participation in facilities planning discussions and vendor engagement.
*Assist with special technology projects as assigned by the Director.
*Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Demonstrated ability to lead and oversee technical staff in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
*Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing technical staff.
*Strong knowledge of desktop hardware, operating systems (Windows and macOS), and end-user support tools and ticketing platforms.
*Experience with hardware procurement processes, vendor management, and budget tracking.
*Familiarity with AV systems, classroom technology, and conference room A/V setup and troubleshooting.
*Experience managing device lifecycle processes including EOL planning, imaging, MDM/Apple Business Manager, and asset inventory.
*Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across departments, vendors, and leadership.
*Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
*Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:
*Familiarity with Temple University systems including TDX (TeamDynamix), TUH network services, and university purchasing processes.
*Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and experience supporting compliance audits.
*Experience supporting simulation technology, patient management systems, or specialized clinical education environments.
*Experience with digital signage platforms and enterprise-level software deployment tools.
