By joining our Division of Driver Licensing Team as a Assistant Director in Franklin County, you’ll have
the opportunity to provide leadership and operational oversight for 8 Branch Managers supervising 35 Regional
Driver Licensing Offices across the Commonwealth. You will play a critical role in process improvement and
efficient operations by ensuring a seamless customer experience statewide.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Supervise: Provide direct leadership to 8 Branch Managers overseeing 35 Regional Driver Licensing
    Offices statewide, ensuring operational excellence and consistent service delivery.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage statewide driver licensing operations, ensuring compliance with state laws,
    federal regulations, and AAMVA standards.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement policies, process improvements, and
    resource allocation strategies that enhance efficiency and customer experience.
  • Incident and Risk Management: Oversee safety, security, and incident response protocols, ensuring rapid
    resolution and minimizing operational disruptions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a liaison between KYTC leadership, Branch Managers, staff, and external
    partners to maintain alignment, resolve challenges, and support statewide initiatives.

Ideal candidate will have experience in:

  • Proven ability to lead and develop managers and staff across multiple locations, fostering accountability
    and collaboration.
  • Experience overseeing high-volume, customer-facing service operations with a focus on efficiency,
    consistency, and quality.
  • Understanding of state and federal driver licensing laws, AAMVA standards, and related security and privacy
    requirements.
  • Skilled in analyzing performance data, optimizing resources, and implementing solutions that enhance
    productivity and customer satisfaction.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills to effectively collaborate with leadership, staff,
    external partners, and the public.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Five years of administrative or management experience, two of which must include direct supervision of personnel.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Additional administrative, management, or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting. Minimal travel may be required.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
