Highlights:

The Assistant Director, Nursing shall be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the activities of all areas of the department(s). As a member of the management team, the Assistant Director is responsible for the development of goals, policy, competency of staff, quality of service, and priority setting. Additionally, the Assistant Director is responsible for communicating with staff and maintaining collegial relationships with physicians and communicating with key physicians on a regular basis concerning clinical practice, unit activities, and overall satisfaction.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required, Master’s degree preferred. Minimum 5 years’ management experience, with at least 3 years’ experience in a medical setting required.

License/Certification:

Active RN license required, BLS required, ACLS required, Critical Care certification preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Evidence of commitment to continuing education.

  • Ability to work from broad directions and be self-motivated.

  • Ability to prioritize workload to achieve maximum efficiency.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with people of various backgrounds throughout the organization.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.

  • Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
