The Environmental Services Operations Manager of Student Life Environmental Services provides leadership and direct oversight of environmental services operations in the Ohio Union; directs district of approximately 30 FTE, including managers and front-line custodial staff who work a 24/7 operation; collaborates with Associate Director to establish annual operating budget of $1M; approves purchases and manages controls; develops efficiencies across assigned areas and ensures operations of stakeholders and peers are not adversely affected; develops project scope and resource planning; recruits, trains, and participates in the hiring of front line staff and management team; plans, coaches, and evaluates staff performance; participates in strategic planning for department; ensures work is compliant with university policy and standards and aligned with Student Life strategic plan and initiatives; collaborates with Associate Director to implement and oversee staff training programs; establishes operational goals for assigned district and inspects assigned areas and to ensure prescribed standards are met; establishes strong communications and solid working relationships with key stakeholders within assigned areas as well as with all university and community groups; ensures continual review of services in support of departmental operations including ongoing communications; provides ongoing maintenance to ensure guidelines and parameters are adhered to; coordinates summer schedule for various workgroups; may participate in SL Emergency and Crisis Response team and various committees. This requires a flexible schedule and will have on-call duties.

Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience; 5 years of relevant work experience; 3 years of management experience, with a progression of administrative responsibilities or management leadership role in facility operations in higher education for large plant operations with large budgets; Proven progression in supervisory experience. Valid Ohio driver's license. Experience maintaining and managing budgets; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, etc.); demonstrated knowledge of housekeeping equipment and methods; excellent verbal and written skills.

Desired: 8-12 years of relevant experience; experience showing progressive leadership responsibilities; experience leading and overseeing custodial operations; experience managing unionized employees; experience with a CMMS, preferably CMS; experience with APPA custodial; lean six sigma green belt certification.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $58,700 - $77,200 based on education and experience.
