The Opportunity
We are seeking an exceptionally motivated and analytical Assistant Development Manager - Retail to join our Residential development team based on St Kilda Rd, Victoria. Reporting directly to the Development Director, this role is a fantastic opportunity to develop your career and gain exposure across the complete property development life cycle within a highly supportive environment.
In this role, you will work closely with our retail Development Managers on the assessment, planning, feasibility, and delivery of critical retail assets. Your initial project focus will be on driving the Five Farms Retail development, alongside playing a key supporting role on the landmark Bradmill Retail development. If you are looking to combine your financial literacy and retail property ambitions to shape vibrant, community-first retail precincts, we want to hear from you.
How you will make an impact
Master Planning & Feasibility (Strategic Impact): Assist with preparing and assessing concept plans for retail developments. Build, maintain, and update detailed financial feasibilities and compile project reports (including PCG and RAF reports) to ensure our developments remain commercially viable and successful.
Leasing & Stakeholder Management (Collaboration): Coordinate internal legal teams, external lawyers, and leasing agents to secure Agreements for Lease (AFL) and major tenant contracts. Assist in preparing leasing proposals, managing retail design managers, and keeping joint venture partners updated on leasing status.
Competitor & Market Analysis (Innovation): Keep your finger on the pulse of the evolving retail landscape by monitoring local competitor activity, researching lease terms and rental rates, and identifying relocation opportunities for prospective tenants.
Operational Excellence (Project Delivery): Manage the day-to-day coordination of planning applications, coordinate tenancy coordinators to hit opening timelines, manage budget reconciliation within SAP, and oversee post-opening defect rectifications to ensure smooth operational stabilisation.
What you’ll bring
We are looking for someone who is collaborative, respectful, progressive, and real. You will also bring:
Experience: Experience dealing with external consultants and a solid understanding of the property development cycle (experience in retail property management or development is highly preferred but not mandatory).
Qualifications: Relevant tertiary qualifications in property, development, construction, project management, economics, or a similar built-environment discipline.
Skills: Strong financial literacy with feasibility analysis, excellent negotiation skills, proficiency in project management software (such as SAP), and a working awareness of retail tenancies legislation.
Mindset: An entrepreneurial yet methodical approach to problem-solving, with a keen motivation to learn, grow, and take real ownership of development outcomes.
Together, we create…
As a property developer, we’re always creating. But it’s not just precincts and projects; we believe the employee experience is a valuable asset which needs planning, great design, and a lot of ongoing care. Together, we create:

Exciting Careers: Growth and learning opportunities, global pathways and supportive managers who ensure everyone in our business can reach their potential.
A Place to Belong: A brand and culture which is known widely in the industry for being purpose-led, customer focused and caring.
The Right Balance: Work-life balance and an employee wellbeing focus which means you can be at your best.
