Job Purpose


To supervise and control heavy fabrication activities to achieve safe, high-quality and productive fabrication as per approved drawings, production plans and idelivery schedules.


2. Key Result Area


Ensure fabrication work is completed as per drawings, specifications and quality standards


3. Key Responsibilities


• Plan, schedule and monitor daily fabrication activities as per production priorities.
• Supervise fit-up, welding, gas cutting, grinding, assembly and finishing activities.
• Allocate manpower and work fronts to achieve daily/weekly production targets.
• Ensure availability and proper utilization of raw materials, consumables, tools andequipment.
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, welding symbols, WPS and applicable specifications. Coordinate with Production Planning, Quality, Engineering, Stores and Maintenance for smooth execution.
• Monitor weld quality, dimensional accuracy, fit-up and fabrication sequence.
• Ensure welders and operators follow approved procedures and qualified practices.
• Identify bottlenecks and take corrective actions to avoid production delays.
• Control rework, rejection, material wastage and idle time.
• Maintain daily production records, manpower deployment and progress reports.
• Ensure proper handling, lifting and movement of fabricated components.
• Implement 5S, Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure strict compliance with Safety procedures, PPE requirements and work permits.
• Guide and develop fabrication workers and maintain discipline on the shop floor.


4. Qualification and Experience


The candidate should be an
Diploma / B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
5–10 years of experience in heavy fabrication, structural fabrication & equipment fabrication


5. Technical Competencies


• Thorough Knowledge on Mechanical Equipment’s.
• Thorough knowledge on reading of drawings

• Interpersonal Skills
