Assistant County Attorney I: $82,352 - $109,643
Assistant County Attorney II: $93,653 – $137,426
Assistant County Attorney III: $115,139 - $177,744
The Office of the County Attorney provides legal advice and services to County departments, agencies, boards, and commissions, as well as the County Council in all aspects of the government’s operations.
The Office is looking for an Assistant County Attorney I/II/III to represent the County Government in tax and procurement matters before State, Federal, and local administrative agencies and courts; draft and review agreements, legislation, regulations, and other legal documents; conduct negotiations; prepare and issues legal opinions; and collects debts owed to the County.
The full-time Assistant County Attorney I/II/III for the Office of the County Attorney’s Division of Finance and Procurement will be responsible for but not limited to working in the Office’s Debt Collection Unit and will also act as counsel to various County departments requiring legal advice on procurement, commercial, grant, tax, and finance matters, including representing the County before administrative bodies and State and federal courts, as may be needed.

At the Assistant County Attorney III level, Grade 32:
Education: Graduation from an accredited university school of law.
Experience: Thorough four (4) years experience as an attorney, including some specialized (one (1) year) experience involving either local government law or permitting, land development and/or zoning.
Equivalency: None.
At the Assistant County Attorney II level, Grade 27:
Education: Graduation from an accredited university school of law.
Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience as an attorney, including trial experience.
Equivalency: None.
At the Assistant County Attorney I level, Grade 24:
Education: Graduation from an accredited university school of law.
Experience: One (1) year of post degree experience as a law clerk or in a similar capacity.
Equivalency: None.
License: Membership in the Maryland State Bar.
