Job Description

Definition & Purpose

The Assistant Coordinator—Organizational Development is responsible for supporting global assessment, leadership development, employee engagement and appreciation, and organizational effectiveness. The position assists with the planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of programs, processes, and systems that support ASI's strategic priorities and employee development goals.

This position is based at the Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA.

Requirements

Educational & Qualifying Experience, Skills, Licenses, Credentials

Educational/License/Credential Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience, three (3) years preferred, that demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • General knowledge of office methods, equipment, procedures, and practices.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based computer systems.
  • Working knowledge of performance management and training tracking software programs.
  • Working knowledge of Federal and State Labor Law.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form.
  • Ability to apply judgment and discretion in performing confidential personnel matters.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and stakeholders.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise Assessment Student Assistants.
  • Facilitate meetings, conduct performance evaluations, establish goals, and monitor day-to-day operations.

Organizational Communication & Coordination

  • Coordinate and support organization-wide internal communication planning efforts to promote alignment, information sharing, and employee engagement across departments.
  • Maintain and administer the organizational calendar, ensuring key initiatives, events, deadlines, and strategic activities are accurately tracked and communicated.
  • Promote and support the effective use of SharePoint as ASI’s primary internal resource for organizational information.
  • Partner with departmental subject matter experts to ensure SharePoint content remains accurate, current, and aligned with organizational standards.
  • Support organizational change initiatives through communication, training, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Assist departments with implementation plans for new programs, systems, or organizational practices.
  • Track and report on implementation progress and outcomes for organizational development projects.

Staff Development

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate training programs and development opportunities for ASI full-time, intermittent, and student employees.
  • Monitor and evaluate professional development participation, conference reporting, and program outcomes to identify trends, measure effectiveness, and recommend improvements.
  • Assist departments in identifying and implementing improvements to workflows, communication practices, and organizational processes that support operational efficiency and employee success.
  • Support the documentation and maintenance of organizational procedures, standards, resources, and tools that promote organizational consistency.
  • Coordinate and support employee appreciation and engagement initiatives that foster a positive workplace culture and enhance the employee experience by leading the Student and Intermittent Staff Appreciation Committee and ASI Fun Committee.
  • Coordinate annual Full-time Staff Kickoff Training Event and annual Student and Intermittent Staff Kickoff Training Event.

Strategic Planning and Assessment Support

  • Coordinate and support organizational assessment, strategic planning, and evaluation initiatives by developing assessment plans, tracking progress toward organizational goals, and measuring the effectiveness of employee learning, leadership development, and organizational development programs.
  • Develop, maintain, and administer assessment tools and key performance metrics that support organizational effectiveness, continuous improvement, and data-informed decision making.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret organizational data to identify trends, evaluate outcomes, and develop actionable recommendations that support strategic priorities and organizational objectives.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and other communications that effectively convey organizational development outcomes, workforce trends, assessment results, and progress toward strategic goals to stakeholders across the organization.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in ASI policy as a condition of their employment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Background Check

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. ASI will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current ASI employee who was conditionally offered the position.

  • Starting Hourly Rate: $30.54 per hour
  • Hourly Pay Range: $30.54 per hour - $48.86 per hour
