Job Location: Camp ELK Wrightwood area - Wrightwood, CA 92397
Position Type: Seasonal
Salary Range: $17.81 - $20.45 Hourly

The YMCA of Orange County is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are actively seeking highly engaged, intentional, and service-oriented individuals for part-time Assistant Cook positions.
This role is a profound opportunity to directly impact the lives of the communities we serve by fostering genuine connections, practicing exceptional hospitality, and creating a safe, positive, and enriching environment where every interaction is meaningful. The Assistant Cook role will help to create a fun, welcoming camp atmosphere by preparing meals with intention and providing an excellent dining experience for campers.
Location: YMCA Camp E.L.K. in Wrightwood, CA
Work Schedule: Seasonal position. Looking for cooks who are available to work from May through August.
Purpose and Impact:

Experience:
- - Prepare meals with care and consistency, helping campers and staff feel comfortable, supported, and ready for each day's camp activities.
- Foster a Safe & Healthy Environment:
- - Maintain a clean, hazard-free kitchen and dining area, while following all YMCA and ACA (American Camp Association) safety standards to protect the well-being of the camp community.
- Lead With Integrity & Care:
- - Demonstrate honesty, respect, responsibility, and professionalism through consistent hygiene, ethical conduct, and reliable teamwork.
- Support Camp Operations:
- - Stay attentive to camper needs, menu updates, and safety concerns, contributing to smooth meal service and a positive camp atmosphere.

Minimum

Qualifications:
- Minimum Age: 18+ years.
- Experience & Certifications:
- - First Aid and CPR Certification (will be able to obtain during summer camp staff training).
- - Experience in a commercial kitchen or with food preparation is desired.
- - Ability to obtain a food handler certification required.
