Job Description

Hexagon's Autonomous Solutions division is looking for an Assistant Controller (m/f/d) to join our team in Aachen, Germany Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager – Indurad, this role supports the financial management and controlling activities of the business by ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with IFRS and company policies, managing accounting operations, and providing financial analysis that supports strategic business decision-making.

The Location: This position is based in Aachen, Germany This is a full-time, permanent position. The primary business language is English German language skills are considered an asset but are not required.

Salary Range: €70,000–€95,000 gross annually, depending on qualifications, skills, and relevant experience.

Responsibilities

As Assistant Controller (m/f/d) you will be responsible for these activities:

  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and Hexagon financial policies.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning activities.
  • Monitor cash flow, oversee payment approvals, and maintain effective financial controls.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including reconciliations and account adjustments.
  • Review general ledger activity, journal entries, intercompany transactions, and local tax filings to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Support monthly reporting, financial analytics, and management reporting deadlines.
  • Coordinate external audits and maintain compliance with internal controls, tax regulations, insurance requirements, and company policies.
  • Support the FP&A team and Senior Finance Manager with financial reporting and analysis.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop members of the accounting and controlling team.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and contribute to finance transformation initiatives.

Qualifications

Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum five years of progressive accounting experience, including at least two years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting, financial controls, and accounting principles.
  • Experience preparing statutory financial statements and supporting external audits.
  • Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger activities.
  • Experience using ERP or financial reporting systems such as SAP, Oracle, Syteline, OneStream, QuickBooks, or similar.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally within Germany and internationally.

Nice To Have

  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Experience with cost accounting, inventory accounting, or revenue recognition.
  • Experience working within an international or matrix organization.
  • Experience supporting finance transformation or continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • German language skills.
