A Day in the Life

The position of Assistant Controller Benelux is part of the global controllership organization. The role is designed to support the existing Benelux controllership setup, currently consisting of a Benelux Commercial controller and an Benelux Service & Holdings controller, by helping manage recurring tasks, coordinating activities, and executing defined controllership responsibilities across the Benelux entities.

You will work closely with the controllers to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial operations, while gradually developing hands-on controllership expertise in a complex, international environment.
Together with the local controllers you will need to manage a cross-functional network of stakeholders to ensure the aforementioned objectives can be achieved. You are expected to work from the Heerlen office two days per week and will report into the Northern Europe Regional Controller.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities for Benelux entities, including recurring controllership tasks
• Own and optimize selected controllership activities through automation, standardization, or transition to Centers of Excellence/Shared Service Centers
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting documentation, while assisting with the application of US GAAP and Dutch/Belgian GAAP
• Support controllers in identifying risks, opportunities, and resolving open accounting topics
• Act as a key contact for statutory audits, including preparing audit schedules, responding to auditor requests, and following up on findings
• Support statutory, regulatory, and statistical reporting, while coordinating with shared service centers, tax, treasury, and other finance stakeholders
• Contribute to process documentation, balance sheet and close improvements, ad-hoc finance support, and regional/EMEA finance projects

Required Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in accounting, audit, controllership, or finance operations
• Solid understanding of balance sheet accounts and reconciliations
• Exposure to US GAAP and/or statutory accounting
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Fluency in English; Dutch is a advantage
• Comfortable working in an international, matrix organization

Pay range / Rango salarial / Intervalo salarial /Fascia retributiva / Tranche de salaire / Gehaltsband / Salaribereik: Netherlands: 51,520.00 EUR - 77,280.00 EUR | This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
