Are you interested in progressing your fleet management career with National Highways?

We’re looking for an Assistant Contract and Performance Manager to join the National Fleet Team within our Operations Directorate. With a strong background in operational fleet management, you would be expected to hit the ground running leading specific fleet contracts, delivering internal and supply chain audits, administrating financial mechanisms, managing risks, implementing change, and analysing performance and compliance to contribute to a best practice and value for money service.

This national role will be worked on a hybrid basis, with 2 days per week in your local office. There will also be a requirement to travel to Birmingham / Nottingham 1 day per month for team meetings. The occasional overnight stay will also be required.

  • Manage the governance of specific allocated fleet contracts and monitor the performance and compliance of the contract the deliver value for money.
  • Carry out fleet supplier audits, ensuring a consistent approach to supplier management and working to achieve best practice.
  • Collate and analyse fleet performance and compliance data, identify significant variances, administer the performance mechanisms under the contract, share effective practice, support benchmarking activity and contribute to consistency of reporting.
  • Identify contractual risks and implement changes where required.
  • Administer the financial mechanisms within fleet contracts, ensuring we manage the risk of financial loss and ensure value for money against relevant budgets.
  • Manage relevant contract forecasting against annual budgets, to ensure accurate reporting to the business is maintained.
  • Operate as a first point of contact for dedicated regional colleagues, managing effective relationships and supporting with operational challenges.
  • Be an effective problem solver, thinking creatively to solve what can be challenging and time critical issues.

About you.

  • Strong and demonstrable experience of working in operational fleet management.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. The ability to manage challenging environments and conversations is essential.
  • Fleet management skills or fleet management qualification desirable, but the successful candidate will be expected to progress through fleet management qualifications with the AFP.
  • An understanding of the vehicle manufacturing industry and or supply chain would be helpful.
  • Experience of effectively using performance measurement and management processes, or ability to develop this capacity.

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
