GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Assist in conducting compliance examinations of financial service providers conducting business with Wyoming consumersto ensure compliance with the Wyoming Uniform Consumer Credit Code, Wyoming Residential Mortgage Practices Act, andWyoming Transmitters Act.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Assist in ensuring that licensed financial institutions are in full compliance with all applicable State and Federal laws, regulations, and interagency guidelines.
  • Assist in all areas of the compliance examination function, including planning, fieldwork, report generation, corrective action follow-up, and billing.
  • Testify and defend work at contested case hearings when examination findings are disputed.
  • Interact with or assist examiners and representatives of other States' financial institution regulatory agencies in coordinated regulatory efforts.
  • Conduct in-office or on-premises compliance examinations of both in-state and out-of-state-licensed financial institutions.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality and independence in all work and interactions.
  • Assist with the review of license applications, utilizing a national database to ensure applicants satisfy all requirements for licensure.
  • Assist in providing information to consumers and industry personnel relating to consumer credit transactions.
  • Attend conferences and training sessions that mostly require out-of-state travel.
  • Participate in various committees established by national regulatory associations with which the Division has a membership.
  • Monitor local and national trends and law changes relating to the regulation of consumer credit providers.

Examples of duties

PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:

**Must have a valid driver's license.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations relating to consumer credit transmission.
  • Have the ability to deal with difficult situations.
  • Effectively communicate examination findings to the licensed financial institution's senior management, both verbally and written.
  • Must be able to interpret various state and federal compliance laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work in multiple software programs and databases.
  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree (typically in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field)

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Accounting, Auditing, Banking, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field)

Qualifications

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to travel to examinations and formal training for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry workbags, luggage, etc.

NOTES:

  • FLSA: Non-Exempt
  • This position requires the completion of a criminal background check.
