POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics, an NCAA Division 1 and Big Ten Conference Institution is seeking an Assistant Coach for Women's Soccer responsible to the Head Coach for performing or assisting with a wide variety of coaching duties in order to accomplish the goals and objectives of the team. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Identify, recruit, coach and develop high-level athletes for the program.
  • Provide high-level coaching and instruction, including individualized skill training, video sessions, and individual goal setting.
  • Assist with practice and match preparations.
  • Organize official and unofficial visits.
  • Collaborate with coaching staff to prepare in-depth scouting reports utilizing data and video.
  • Perform in-match and post-match coding and analysis to evaluate team performance through video and data.
  • Distribute position-specific video content to players for self-reflection.
  • Assist in filming and coding of training sessions according to team’s game model.
  • Develop and maintain “best practices” video library that aligns with the program’s game model.

The successful candidate should have a positive and can-do attitude and be fully committed to the desired culture of Penn State Women's Soccer as determined by the head coach and support Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics Mission to Prepare Student-Athletes for a Lifetime of Impact. Travel is an expectation for the position.

Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelors degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A degree in a sports related field and a degree with components in coaching and sports analytics are required.
  • Division 1 coaching and/or playing experience preferred.
  • High level of Mac iOS computer competency using various analysis softwares and programs including Hudl product suite, Wyscout, Keynote and other presentation-based programs.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. Due to the financial and fiduciary responsibilities of this position, successful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
