This is a full-time coaching position in the University of Arizona Athletics Department assisting the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country with the recruitment and coaching of student-athletes in a major Division I program. The position reports directly to the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country.

This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and travel for competition and recruiting. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Implement training programs for student-athletes in Throwing Events.
  • Recruit both women and men’s Throwers.
  • Monitor academic progress of student-athletes.
  • Perform administrative duties.
  • Assist in all areas of the Track & Field program, including day-to-day operations.
  • Oversee practice, both team and individual.
  • Coordinate all Drachman Stadium facility operations.
  • Budget accountability.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of NCAA rules pertaining to recruitment and eligibility.
  • Commitment to academic and athletic success.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions.
  • Dedication and motivation to initiate, lead, and support value-added projects.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of NCAA, Big 12, and University of Arizona rules and compliance.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented with a positive demeanor.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to plan, establish priorities, and successfully manage multiple priority projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels and project a positive, professional attitude.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Four (4) years of coaching experience at the collegiate level.
  • Experience coaching male and female athletes.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree.
  • USATF Level II Coaching Certification.
  • Experience with computers and software, including Microsoft Office.
  • Four (4) or more years of coaching experience at the NCAA Division I level or international level.
