The College of Education and Human Development invites applications for a 9-month, non-tenure track position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, Early Childhood to begin Fall 2027. The primary responsibility of the clinical assistant professor will be a teaching line focused on the preparation of future educators and the advancement of high-quality early childhood practice. The successful candidate will be a practitioner-scholar who brings expertise from the field into the university classroom, supporting preservice teachers through coursework, mentorship, and field-based supervision. Rather than emphasizing a research agenda, this position centers on excellence in teaching, clinical practice, and service, including building strong partnerships with schools, families, and communities. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to engaging students in experiential learning, fostering responsive and engaging practices, and contributing to program development and service at the department, college, and university levels.
The department of Curriculum Instruction and Learning Sciences (CILS) offers the following top-rated academic programs: bachelor of science in early childhood education (EC-3), elementary education (with specializations in bilingual, elementary generalist, and mathematics 4-8), and special education; post baccalaureate alternative certification; master’s in curriculum and instruction, elementary education, instructional design and educational technology, reading, secondary education, and special education; and a doctoral degree in curriculum and instruction (with specializations in literacy studies, curriculum studies, instructional design and educational technology, kinesiology, and special education).
