Within the division of Citywide Technical Services (CWS) the Capital Team works in direct partnership with Parks Operations, and other Agency Divisions, to assess, design and reconstruct facilities most in need of improvements. This unit has direct impact on neighborhood quality of life, resiliency, greenhouse gas emission reductions and fun for communities throughout the five boroughs of New York City.
Major Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform civil engineering work of moderate difficulty and responsibility for our Capital Unit within Citywide Services. Assist in managing multiple consultant site work contracts within an established schedule and budget.
- Develop drawings, specifications and estimates of quantities for major civil engineering projects including structures, water supply, sewer and green infrastructure.
- Perform design calculations for structural, water supply, storm water, sanitary sewer, green infrastructure and related drainage systems.
- Coordinate project-specific interagency work such as permits, filings and approvals. Prepare and submit permit applications.
- When directed, manage and review consultant designs.
- Manage all aspects towards the construction of the Citywide State of Good Repair contracts program, including, contracts, budgets, operations, reporting, policies, and procedures.
- Perform administrative tasks towards the execution of state of good repair contracts.
- Conduct field inspections before and during design and construction and through turnover.
- Engage in research, investigation, studies, examinations and testing of materials related to the functions or activities of the Capital Engineering group.
- Organize and communicate stakeholder comments for consultant contract drawings, specifications, and construction estimates; and submit reports.
- Review and approve consultant payment requests.
License Requirement
A Motor Vehicle Driver’s License valid in the State of New York may be required for certain assignments. If required, this license must be maintained for duration of appointment.
