The assistant chief laundry mechanic supports the chief laundry mechanic in maintaining and repairing all commercial laundry equipment to ensure safe, efficient and uninterrupted hotel laundry operations.
This position performs advanced mechanical maintenance, assists in supervising daily maintenance activities, and serves as acting lead in the absence of the Chief Laundry Mechanic.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist the Chief Laundry Mechanic in overseeing the maintenance and repair of all commercial laundry equipment including washers, dryers, ironers, folders, presses, conveyors, and chemical dispensing systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance schedules on all laundry equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and plumbing issues affecting laundry operations.
• Support the chief Laundry Mechanic in coordinating daily maintenance activities and work assignments.
• Serve as acting lead mechanic during the Chief Laundry Mechanics absence.
• Assist in maintaining steam, water, air and drain systems associated with laundry
• Diagnose equipment failures using schematics, manuals, and diagnostic tools
• Repair or replace motors, belts, bearings, valves, pumps, seals, and related components.
• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades and system improvements.
• Maintain maintenance records, repair logs, and preventive maintenance documentation
• Support parts inventory control
• Ensure compliance with all safety standards
• Maintain clean work environment
• Communicate equipment status, repair timelines and maintenance needs to laundry and engineering leadership.
Supervisory Responsibilities
• May provide guidance and training to junior mechanics
• Assist the Chief Laundry Mechanic with scheduling
• Support training of new maintenance staff in laundry equipment and procedure

Required Qualifications
• Highschool diploma or GED required.
• 3-7 years experience maintaining commercial or industrial laundry equipment.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems, motors, relays, and controls.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Experience performing preventative maintenance programs
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks
• Strong communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in hotel or hospitality laundry operations.
• Knowledge of steam systems, heat exchangers, and pneumatics
• Experience Welding or fabrication
• Any trade experience HVAC plumbing or electrical
• Experience with major commercial laundry equipment brands such as:

◦ Chicago Dryer
◦ Jensen
◦ Braun
◦ Unimac
Physical requirements
• Ability to lift up to 50-75lbs
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel and climb for extended periods.
• Ability to work in a hot, humid and noisy environment
• Ability to respond to emergencies and equipment failures as needed.
Work Environment
• Industrial laundry setting with exposure to head, humidity, chemicals and moving machinery.
• May require weekend, holiday, and shift work depending on production schedules.
• May Require on call or emergency response.
