Assistant Chief Engineer
You understand how to maintain a building and the equipment within it. You also recognize the importance of hospitality and know how to train and supervise a team to deliver on the promise of “all things in working order.” As the Chief Engineer’s right hand, you are an integral part of the Engineering Department’s success.
In the role of Assistant Chief Engineer, you will:
Be a Point Person - Assist the Chief Engineer in managing the engineering department, including overseeing the staff responsible for maintaining the physical operation of the hotel. This includes building structure, fixtures, refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, water treatment, electrical systems, and grounds. You will support the mission of providing a safe, secure, and comfortable guest environment, as well as fostering a positive guest and employee experience.
Walk the Talk - In this role, you will walk the hotel daily—inspecting areas your team is responsible for and training or retraining staff when expectations are not met. You understand that protecting the asset for investors and owners, as well as ensuring guest and team member safety, is a top priority. You take seriously the responsibility of overseeing the maintenance, service, and repair of the hotel and its equipment.

Be the Manager on Duty - Serve as Manager on Duty when requested.
Job Requirements
This role requires at least three years of progressive experience in a related field, with previous supervisory experience required. Customer service and hotel experience are preferred.
At least three years of practical experience in one or more technical trades (HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical) is strongly preferred, as is any license required by the property. Previous budgeting experience is helpful, along with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs used at the hotel. The ability to use tools commonly utilized in the engineering department is also essential.
To be successful in this role, you must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively and professionally in English with associates, guests, and hotel management.
