Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must hold a valid Assistant Chief( Fireman) Custodian Certification from the State of Delaware
  • Is able to meet the minimum physical requirements of the job including climbing a ladder to a minimum of 12 feet and to lift 50 lbs and carry it for 50 feet.
  • Demonstrates the ability to review and understand oral and written instructions and/or directions.
  • Displays the ability to cooperate with school personnel.
  • Holds and maintains a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Clean Criminal Background Check, TB Test, and Child Protection Registry Clearance must be completed prior to Start of Employment.
  • Must work in person in the building.

Primary Duties:

  • Operation and routine maintenance of all mechanical equipment including boilers, burners, air conditioning and ventilation equipment.
  • May be asked by the principal to be acting chief custodian during the chief custodian's absence due to illness, injury or vacation.
  • Ability to interact positively and appropriately with school administrators and students.
  • Cleans walls, floors, carpets and other interior building components by mopping, scrubbing, waxing, shampooing or vacuuming.
  • Follows district policies and procedures with regard to custodial operations.
  • Other related duties as may be assigned.
