Position Summary
The Lakeland Hills Family YMCA is seeking a passionate and organized Assistant Camp & Youth Program Director to help lead our Youth Development and Summer Camp programs.
Under the direction of the Camp & Youth Program Director, this role provides leadership, oversight, and operational support for youth sports leagues, enrichment programs, birthday parties, special events, and seasonal camp operations.
We are looking for a motivated leader who is committed to delivering high-quality, developmentally appropriate programming for children ages 1–12, while driving enrollment growth, supporting staff development, and upholding the YMCA’s mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Operations
- Provide day-to-day leadership for youth sports, enrichment programs, leagues, special events, and birthday parties
- Assist in curriculum development, session planning, and program evaluation
- Ensure programs are safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate
- Support Daxko administration including session setup, registration management, and enrollment tracking
- Monitor enrollment trends and support retention and growth strategies
Staff Supervision & Development
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and train part-time and seasonal staff
- Provide ongoing supervision, coaching, and performance feedback
- Ensure compliance with YMCA policies, child protection standards, and safety procedures
- Assist in staff meetings, orientations, and performance evaluations
Youth Events & Programming
- Oversee Youth Nights, clinics, enrichment programs, and one-day events
- Manage birthday party operations including scheduling, contracts, staffing, and quality control
- Support youth sports leagues and skill-based clinics to ensure program excellence
Camp Support & Seasonal Leadership
- Assist with summer camp preparation and operations including registration oversight, supply ordering, staff onboarding, theme planning, and special events
- Maintain visible leadership presence during camp season to ensure quality and safety
Marketing & Community Engagement
- Collaborate with Marketing Director to promote programs and events
- Contribute to marketing materials, website updates, and program highlights
- Support member engagement, retention initiatives, and community outreach
Budget & Financial Responsibility
- Assist in preparing and managing the Youth Department budget
- Monitor revenue and expenses
- Identify opportunities for responsible program growth
Association Leadership
- Support and volunteer at major YMCA events such as Healthy Kids Day, Annual Golf Outing, Turkey Trot, and Annual Meeting
- Represent the Youth Development Department professionally at association and community events
- Support fund development and membership initiatives
Risk Management & Facility Oversight
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of program equipment
- Submit and track facility work orders
- Maintain compliance with YMCA safety policies and procedures

Qualifications
- Degree in education, child development, sports management, recreation, human services with coursework in management, program design and/or business administration.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Highly organized with strong administrative abilities
- Knowledge of child development and youth program design
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Ability to build positive relationships with families, staff, and community partners
