As an Assistant Buyer Intern you will contribute to Wenger Corporation’s strategy to provide exceptional customer experience by supporting the Purchasing team with day-to-day buying activities, supplier coordination, and data management. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in procurement, vendor relations, and supply chain operations, offering exposure to the full purchasing cycle in a fast-paced business environment.
At a minimum, you’ll need:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Demonstrated interest in supply chain, procurement, or merchandising.
A typical day may include:
- Assisting Buyers with placing purchase orders and following up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery including expedites.
- Conducting market and vendor research to identify cost, quality, and availability trends.
- Maintaining accurate purchasing records, including order tracking, pricing updates, and delivery schedules.
- Helping monitor inventory levels and provide reporting to ensure stock availability.
- Reviewing product samples, specifications, and vendor proposals for alignment with business needs.
- Partnering with internal departments (e.g., Operations, Finance, and Inventory Control) to resolve order discrepancies.
- Supporting the team with preparing reports, presentations, and analyses related to supplier performance and spend.
- Participating in vendor meetings and negotiations as appropriate.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the Purchasing department.
- You will be required to complete a ‘report out’ presentation at Wenger Corporation’s celebration / ‘graduation ceremony’ prior the conclusion of the internship.
