Assistant Building Surveyor

  • Permanent Part-Time position
  • Working 3 days per week (22.8hrs p/w)
  • Salary commencing at $43.07 per hour plus 12% superannuation (commensurate with experience).

The Opportunity

This role assists the Municipal Building Surveyor in undertaking the statutory functions required under the Building Act 1993 and the Building Regulations Act 2018. The successful candidate will provide efficient customer service to the community and the general building profession.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the administration and enforcement of the statutory requirements of the Building Act 1993 in the public interest.
  • Assist in the assessment of building permits, Council report and consent applications and other related building requirements.
  • Assist in the Council inspection program for Essential Safety Measures on all relevant buildings in accordance with the current program.
  • Assist in the Council swimming pool register and safety barrier inspection program for non-compliant safety barriers.

Skills & Experience

  • Completed Advanced Diploma in Building Surveying or relevant experience in building control with local government or the private building surveying industry.
  • Knowledge of word processing systems, especially Microsoft Word and other packages in Microsoft Office.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and sound customer focus.
