Job Description

Working Pattern: Typically 5 days a week onsite with core flexible hours between 8am to 6pm.

The Role

We’re looking for two creative and detail driven Assistant Designers to join our Next Home Textiles team, working across our Kids and Adult Bedding categories. In this role, you will play a crucial part in turning emerging interior trends into commercially successful, beautiful bedding collections that refresh and elevate our customers' homes.

Working alongside Designers, Buyers, Merchandisers, and Technologists, you will help shape everything from cozy children’s duvets to sophisticated adult bedding ranges. Whether your strength is in print and pattern development, colour story creation, or detailed CAD work, you’ll be supported with on-the-job training and guidance from an experienced team to help you build a brilliant career in home design.

What You’ll Take On

Trend & Commercial Research: Track global home interior trends, colour palettes, and fabric innovations, helping to translate high end looks into accessible, volume selling bedding collections for both Kids and Adults.

Design & Artwork Creation: Produce commercial design concepts, original print and pattern artwork, and detailed CADs for duvet sets, sheets, and co-ordinating soft accessories.

Tech Pack Preparation: Prepare accurate design spec sheets and factory ready artwork files to ensure smooth development with our global supply base.

Sample Management: Support the end to end design cycle by tracking production samples, reviewing strike offs, and preparing samples for critical range reviews.

Team Collaboration: Assist in presenting seasonal concepts to Buyers and management, building strong relationships across the wider Home Textiles department.

What You’ll Bring

Design Experience: A background or relevant qualification in Textile Design, Surface Pattern, or Fashion/Home Interiors, with a keen interest in both kids' and adult home trends.

CAD Proficiency: Hands on experience using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to create repeat patterns, colourways, and detailed product CADs.

Commercial & Creative Eye: An understanding of the Next customer and a knack for creating commercially viable, market appropriate designs, as well as strong eye for colour & techniques

Organisation & Drive: Great time management skills, the ability to multi-task across multiple seasonal deadlines, and a calm approach in a fast-paced environment.

Communication & Teamwork: A proactive, collaborative attitude with clear communication skills and an eagerness to learn from those around you.

Portfolios

To help us get a feel for your style, please attach a digital portfolio to your application. We are looking for work that demonstrates a sharp eye for the future of print, how your ideas can be commercially viable for NEXT, and showcases your direct design and CAD work. Applications without a portfolio will not be considered.
