Job Description

Job Title:Assistant Athletic Trainer (full-time)

Salary Range:Commensurate with experience

Department:Athletics & Recreation

Reports to:Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Medicine

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures of the department and institution as well as the rules and regulations of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) and MAC Freedom, the NCAA, and other authorities that may legitimately influence the intercollegiate athletics program.

  • Responsible for providingmedical coverage for assigned home varsity events and practices as directed.

  • Ensure that all student-athletes have received proper medical clearance at the beginning of each academic year through completion ofappropriate annualmedical forms.

  • Assess student-athletes and administer preventative and post-injury treatments/rehabilitation of assigned teams as needed throughout the year;assessneeds and perform emergency first aid techniques to assigned injured student-athletes as needed.

  • Work in conjunction with sports medicine staff to manage the inventory of equipment and supplies. In addition, overseemaintenanceof all equipment and ensure that it is in good working order.

  • Have a working knowledge of Stevens' health insurance and excessdepartmentinsurance plan.

  • Collaboratewith team physicians foroff-campusappointments, evaluation, diagnostic testing, rehabilitation, and medical clearance.

  • Assistinevaluatingifenvironmental conditions are safe for intercollegiatesportscontests

  • Assistin the supervision and instruction of work study students who are employed in the sports medicine office.

  • Work togetherwith Campus Health Services,dietitian, Strength and Conditioning, and Counselingand Psychological Servicesconcerning any student-athlete health issues andmaintainstrong and open communication.

  • Maintain up-to-date injury documentation and treatment records.

  • Regularday, early morning, evening, and weekend hours arerequired Some travel is involved with various teams as needed

  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Administrative Responsibilities

  • Attend andcollaboratein staff meetings, in-service education sessions, and other divisional or departmental meetings.

  • Participate in department initiatives, programs, and committees asrequired

  • Represent the department on Stevenscampus-widecommittees andatmeetings,as necessary.

  • Complete all required departmental and institutional training and certification programs andparticipatein available professional development opportunities.

  • Perform in-service training and drills to help educate and further staff development.

  • Maintain required New Jersey Athletic Training Licensure and remain in good standing with the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers bymaintainingrequired continuing education requirements.

  • Act as a liaison withteamphysiciansincluding scheduling clinics, uploading required documentation, andassistingwith appointment scheduling as needed.

  • Assistwith secondary insurance policyandinjury claims

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degreerequired; master’s degree preferred.

Experience

  • Previousexperience atthecollege level preferred.

Specific Skills

  • Communicate effectively and professionally, including written, interpersonal, and public speaking.

  • Must be willing to workearlymorning, evening, weekends, and holidays.

Specialized Licenses

  • BOC and CPR/AED certificationrequired; New Jersey state licensure preferred

Compensation Range

In compliance with the New Jersey Wage Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $53,600.00 - $73,266.67. This range represents the University’s good faith estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Stevens Institute of Technology determines compensation based on factors including the position’s scope and responsibilities, the candidate’s experience, education, skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational considerations. The final salary will be set considering departmental budget, qualifications, and relevant credentials. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes additional forms of compensation, such as incentives, stipends, or other applicable pay components.
