Job Description

The St. Mary's High School/Annapolis Assistant Athletic Director for Operations is a dynamic, leadership-level position responsible for the seamless execution of Upper School athletic programs, event logistics, and facility management. This administrative role serves as the operational center of the athletic department, ensuring effective site management, exceptional game-day experiences, compliance, and personnel oversight.

The ideal candidate will bridge administrative oversight with on-the-ground execution. This individual manages game staff, oversees athletic facilities, enforces uniform and equipment protocols, and coordinates middle school athletic pathways.

As a liaison between the athletic department, the main office, communications team, and school leadership, the Assistant Athletic Director maintains high standards of situational awareness and operational excellence across all sporting events.

Essential Functions
Operations & Site Management

● Serve as Operations Manager for Upper School Athletics.
● Act as Site Manager for the Bestgate property field and gymnasium.
● Recruit, schedule, and supervise student and faculty game-day staff.
● Ensure full staffing for Public Address, scoreboard, and video board operations.

Middle School (7th & 8th Grade) Coordination

● Serve as the primary contact for 7th and 8th grade registration and payments.
● Coordinate team selection and the tryout process for 7th and 8th grade teams.
● Oversee objective evaluation metrics and final team selection.

Digital Media & Streaming Content

● Assist the Communications Director with all Upper School athletic web pages.
● Partner with the Director of Communications to create athletic content.
● Manage, test, and promote live-streaming events for home games.

Roster Management & Compliance

● Maintain accurate and up-to-date Upper School athletic rosters.
● Audit and track all required forms and signed eligibility documents.

Uniform & Inventory Control

● Manage the distribution, collection, and inventory of Upper School uniforms.
● Develop and enforce a system of team uniform accountability.
● Track, process, and bill families for damaged or unreturned equipment.
● Maintain organized and secure seasonal uniform storage.

Game Day Experience & Creative Management

● Enhance the spectator experience at Pascal Field, Russell, and Bestgate Gym.
● Create and schedule video board content and advertisements at Pascal Field.
● Write, review, and deliver game scripts to PA announcers.

Student-Athlete Discipline & Accountability

● Serve as the Disciplinary Coordinator for all high school athletes.
● Collaborate with the Vice Principal to monitor student disciplinary records.
● Provide regular updates to the Athletic Director regarding disciplinary matters.

Position Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Education, or a related field.
● Experience in high school athletics, administration, and/or coaching.
● Strong organizational, communication, and technical skills.
● Ability to work evenings and weekends for athletic events.

Pay Rate: $48,000, Annualized
