The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery (department) at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) seeks exceptional candidates at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure) to serve in the David J. Sugarbaker Division of Thoracic Surgery (division) at the Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center (BSLMC), the cornerstone adult hospital affiliate of Baylor College of Medicine within the Texas Medical Center.
The successful candidate will join a busy team of thoracic surgeons and will exhibit a commitment to clinical excellence, research, innovation, teaching, and collaborative practices. The Division has a robust clinical program working across the Texas Medical Center and at Baylor-affiliated institutions including Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center, Texas Heart Institute, the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Ben Taub Hospital, and Texas Children’s Hospital.
The applicant should possess exceptional clinical skills and expertise in thoracic surgery, have strong interpersonal skills, and have a keen interest in contributing to our innovative research and educational program. The Division helps oversee a traditional thoracic surgery fellowship, an integrated thoracic surgery residency and specialty fellowships. The Division’s NIH funded laboratories are at the forefront of thoracic oncology research and innovation and represent an excellent opportunity for the candidate to further their development as a surgeon-scientist.
The candidate must be certified or board eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and qualify for full and unrestricted medical licensure in the state of Texas. Rank and tenure status are commensurate upon qualifications.
