The University of Washington (UW) Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology is seeking applicants for a full-time (1.0 FTE) position. This position would be hired at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor of Clinical Practice. This position is non-tenure eligible. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Assistant, Associate, or Professors of Clinical Practice are eligible for an initial appointment period of three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter that aligns with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The anticipated start date would be Winter 2026, but this is flexible.
Clinical duties will be based primarily at VA Puget Sound Health Care System. Duties include providing nephrology care on the inpatient consult service and out-patient clinics, performing clinic triage and electronic consultations, and delivering care for patients undergoing long-term dialysis. Specific allocation of time on the inpatient consult service, outpatient clinics, dialysis coverage, and remote care consultation will be based on the need and at the discretion of the Section Head and Division Head. Travel to outreach specialty clinics within the VA Puget Sound Health Care System is expected. Preferred qualifications include procedural competency in performing kidney biopsies and insertion of uncuffed hemodialysis catheters, prior training in point-of-care ultrasound in nephrology practice, and experience in palliative and end-of-life care delivery. Although this position’s clinical focus will be on general nephrology, we expect the person in this position will develop one to two clinical subspecialty areas of interest and expertise.
In addition to clinical work, teaching, scholarship, and service are integral to all Clinical Practice positions. This position will also participate in divisional teaching and academic conferences as assigned, such as presenting annually at grand rounds conference.
