Job Description

The Jackson Laboratory (JAX), an independent nonprofit biomedical research institution and a global leader in genetics and genomics, invites applications for faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor levels at its research campus in Farmington, Connecticut. JAX Genomic Medicine brings together experimental, computational, and translational scientists to uncover the biological mechanisms of human health and disease and translate genomic discoveries into meaningful clinical impact. Faculty benefit from an exceptionally collaborative environment that integrates human studies with cellular, tissue, organoid, animal, and computational models.

We welcome creative and collaborative investigators developing ambitious research programs across a broad range of biomedical disciplines. Candidates whose work bridges multiple areas or creates new connections across JAX research programs are particularly encouraged to apply.

Areas of particular interest include:

· Human genetics, functional genomics, genome engineering, and emerging technologies

· Immunology, including human immunology, immune-mediated disease, neuroimmunology, immune aging, and vaccine responses

· Biology of aging, resilience, and age-associated disease

· Cancer biology, cancer genomics, and cancer immunology

· Cellular, tissue, organoid, and mouse models of human disease

· Computational biology, data science, and AI-enabled biomedical discovery

We are interested in both rising investigators launching innovative independent programs and established scientists who can provide intellectual leadership, build collaborative initiatives, and expand institutional strengths.

JAX faculty have access to:

· A highly interactive community of experimental and computational scientists and strong institutional support for interdisciplinary team science

· Advanced scientific services in genomics, single-cell and spatial profiling, genome engineering, imaging, flow cytometry, computational biology, and model development

· Extensive expertise and resources in mouse genetics and human disease modeling

· Opportunities to develop translational studies through partnerships with universities, hospitals, medical centers, biotechnology companies, patient-centered research programs and JAX’s CLIA/CAP-certified Advanced Precision Medicine Laboratory

· Outstanding predoctoral, postdoctoral, and professional training programs

· The JAX Cancer Center, NCI-designated as a Basic Laboratory Cancer Center since 1983

· Internationally recognized courses and workshops in genetics, genomics, data science, and biomedicine

· Competitive start-up packages, compensation, benefits, and relocation assistance

Located on the UConn Health campus in Farmington, JAX Genomic Medicine offers a highly collaborative biomedical environment within the greater Hartford region, graduate training in collaboration with the UConn Health, and easy access to scientific communities in Boston and New York.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research statement describing past accomplishments and future directions, and a statement outlining their approach to mentorship and collaborative science. Applicants for Assistant Professor positions should also provide contact information for three references.

Pay Range:

Assistant Level: $129,759 - $158,955
