The Opportunity
The Trees and Urban Forest Team is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Assistant Arborist to join the City Presentation Department. In this hands-on outdoor role, you will support the delivery of reactive and programmed tree maintenance works across various Moonee Valley streets and parks, contributing to the health, safety and presentation of the city’s urban forest.
Working under the direction of the Tree Maintenance Supervisor, you will assist with tree pruning, removals and general arboricultural activities while ensuring safe work practices and high standards of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Skills & Experience
You will bring demonstrated experience in the safe and effective operation and basic maintenance of plant, machinery and equipment used in street and park tree maintenance, including tools such as chainsaws and chippers. You have a strong safety focus, a good level of physical fitness and agility to undertake manual outdoor tasks, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while contributing positively to shared goals. Sound communication skills, a professional approach when engaging with the public, and a commitment to following procedures and safe work practices are essential.
A current Victorian Medium Rigid Driver’s Licence is required, as well as an Elevated Work Platform and Electrical Safety Industry Certificate II.
