ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant / Accounts Officer to join our Financial Operations team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role will provide high-volume transactional and accounting support during our peak seasonal activity and year-end reporting cycle, with a particular focus on Concur expense processing, accounts receivable support and operational cover across the Financial Control team. You will help maintain timely processing, accurate records, strong financial controls and responsive stakeholder service, while strengthening business continuity through practical training and clear process documentation.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Process and review employee expense claims in Concur, including supporting documentation, coding, approvals, GST treatment and compliance with CA policies.
  • Provide day-to-day Concur, corporate card and prepaid card administration and user support, including resolving queries and following up outstanding transactions.
  • Prepare journals, balance sheet reconciliations, supporting schedules, and assist with high-volume transactional periods and audit activities.
  • Provide processing and accounting cover across the Financial Control team during planned and unplanned leave periods, within delegated authority.
  • Develop and maintain clear procedures, checklists, FAQs and training materials, and support onboarding and knowledge-sharing for Finance and business users.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • A qualification in accounting, finance, commerce or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience in transactional finance, accounts receivable, accounts payable, expense administration, assistant accounting or a similar role.
  • A sound understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations and financial controls, with strong accuracy and organisation during peak periods.
  • Proficiency in Excel and confidence working with finance systems and high-volume data.
  • Clear communication, a service-focused approach and the ability to translate finance processes into practical procedures, FAQs and training materials.
  • Experience supporting month-end, year-end or audit processes. Hands-on experience with Concur is highly regarded; exposure to Dynamics 365, Basware or Cognos will also be valued.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

Our employees at Cricket are gifted an additional week of leave at the end of the season! As a CA employee, you will also have other benefits including:

  • Tickets to the Cricket for you to take your friends and family and experience Australia’s favourite game!
  • A flexible working environment, meaning we strike the balance of what you need and what works for the business (this isn’t limited to working remotely)
  • Discounts from our partners such as ASICS and salary packaging options
  • A multitude of leave types including paid parental leave and volunteer leave

About Cricket Australia

CA is the governing body for professional and amateur cricket in Australia and our registered office and main office is in East Melbourne, Victoria. Originally formed in 1905 as the 'Australian Board of Control for International Cricket’, we are a not-for-profit organisation and a foundation member of cricket’s world governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC).

CA operates all the Australian national representative cricket squads, including the Men's, the Women's, Youth, Indigenous, Inclusion and Indoor teams, and is also responsible for organising and hosting Test tours and One Day Internationals with other nations, as well as scheduling the home and international fixtures. We work in partnership with State and Territory cricket associations and support the development and growth of cricket in the community and globally.

We have more than 320 employees, located across East Melbourne (Jolimont Street), the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane and the offices of State associations around the nation. While CA doesn't own nor control any other entities, we share lessons learned with State and Territory associations and other cricket bodies.
