Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification

The successful candidate will join a dynamic accounting team and work under the direction of qualified accountants. They will gain valuable accounting experience across a broad range of activities. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation and posting of accounting journals, including accruals and prepayments, for a variety of Irish-incorporated SPVs in accordance with transactional and statutory deadlines.
  • Completion of bank reconciliations and posting of related journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Working closely with experienced accountants and assisting in the preparation of annual financial statements under IFRS and local GAAP.
  • Active involvement in audit preparation and audit query resolution, working with qualified team members to ensure all reporting deadlines are met.
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts for a portfolio of SPVs.
  • Liaising with banks, asset servicers, auditors and other third parties to ensure audit confirmations are issued and received on a timely basis.
  • Assisting in the preparation of corporation tax and VAT returns.
  • Completion of iXBRL tagging and filings.
  • Preparation and filing of FVC and SPV statistical returns with the Central Bank of Ireland.
  • Assisting in the preparation and submission of quarterly regulatory returns within applicable deadlines.

Education, Skills & Experience

  • Part-qualified ACCA accountant who is currently working towards a professional accounting qualification, with a clear intention of qualifying within the next three years.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles, including debits and credits, with experience posting journal entries to a general ledger.
  • At least one year's experience in a relevant accounting trainee role within a recognised accounting firm or financial services organisation.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, with strong Excel skills being essential.
  • Ability to think independently, demonstrate attention to detail and resourcefulness, and possess strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Capable of working on their own initiative while also contributing effectively as part of a team. An enthusiastic, collaborative approach and a flexible attitude will contribute to the candidate's success.
