Job Description

The starting pay range for this position per hour is $24.00 - $26.00. The full pay range for this position per hour is $24.00 - $40.80

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience and certifications. AssetsProtection (AP)teamsfunction tokeep our guests, team and brandsecure and lead through crisis events. They protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventingtheft and fraud to ensureproductisavailable for ourguestThey alsobuild relationships inside and outside of Target,including store leadersandpublic safety officials,inclusive oflaw enforcement.

  • Using surveillance and intelligence-led tactics to keep team members and guests safe and secure while aiding in the reduction of shortage

  • UsingTarget'svideo surveillance systemtomonitorguests andidentifypotential theft risks

  • ImplementingTarget's Assets Protection practices and routines to reduce and prevent shortage

  • Properly and effectively documentingcases

  • Identifyingstrategic resolutions of external theft and fraud, and apprehension

As anAssets Protection Specialist,no two daysare ever the same, but a typical day willmost likely includethe following responsibilities:

  • Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by delivering on the following commitments:

  • Greet:

  • 10ft: be friendly – smile, make eye contact, or wave

  • 4ft: greet the guest, smile andinitiatea warm, helpful interaction

  • Help guests find what they need and/or resolve issues to ensure a smooth, easy shopping experience

  • End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you

  • Actively support team efforts andassistpeers in other areas whilemaintaininga positive and respectful attitude

  • Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience

  • Support total store sales, guestserviceandincrease profitability by ensuring product is in stock and available toourguestsby preventingand resolvingtheft

  • Resolve theft by using good judgement and conductingapprehensionsinshortagefocus areas while strictly adhering toAPpoliciesand procedures

  • Identifytheft trends byleveragingtechnology,reportingand surveillance tactics

  • Prevent theft by gathering intelligence and communicatingimportant issues

  • Understand and appropriatelyusevideosystemstomonitortheft activity

  • Respond to security incidents andsubmitappropriate documentationfor all incidents followingAPpolicy and procedures

  • Promotea physical security and safety culture for our team members and guests by creating awareness and training safe and secure standards throughout the building

  • Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic and respectful, and creatingequitableexperiences

  • Work in a safe mannerat all times;comply withall safety policies,best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possible

  • Maintain positive work relationships withpublic safety officials andlaw enforcement

  • Participate in legal proceedings as necessary torepresentTarget’s interests.

The good news is that we have some amazing training that will help teach you everything you need to know to beanAssets Protection SpecialistBut,there are a few skills you should have from the get-go:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Meet any state or local licensureand/or other legal requirements related to the position

  • Welcoming and helpful attitude towardallguests and other team members

  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices andoperatehandheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed

  • Effective communication skills

  • Work both independently and with a team

  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently

  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment andaccomplishmultiple tasks within establishedtimeframes

  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights,weekendsand holidays); come to work when scheduled,work scheduled shifts and take required mealand rest breaks

  • Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive-Up, carryout, etc.

  • Ability toremainmobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)
