Portfolio Strategy Overview

The Alternatives Portfolio Management Group is dedicated to optimizing investor performance and experience. The Portfolio Strategy team within the Portfolio Management group is focused on shaping the overall direction of Goldman Sachs Asset Management Private funds and portfolios. This includes developing insights, guiding portfolio construction, and utilizing fund modeling to optimize performance and support data-driven decisions across the platform.

Key Responsibilities and Activities:

• Lead quantitative and qualitative portfolio analysis to support portfolio and risk management for private market funds and custom client portfolios.
• Conduct portfolio modeling to guide portfolio construction and leverage strategy; enhance portfolio management by analyzing proprietary data and contributing to broader portfolio analysis.
• Lead fund financing modeling and evaluate impacts on investor performance and leverage strategy.
• Present portfolio analysis and data-driven recommendations in Portfolio Strategy meetings; lead strategic initiatives and projects related to portfolio and risk management.
• Perform detailed industry research and deliver customized client solutions, ensuring accuracy in meeting client needs; assess risk factors and their impact on portfolio performance.
• Collaborate with deal teams, fund financing, and sales teams on portfolio construction and fund strategy modeling.
• Support fundraising activities through scenario and sensitivity analysis to inform portfolio strategy and product development.
• Perform attribution analysis to break down portfolio returns and drive improvements in performance and risk management

Required Experience:

• 3–5 years of experience in asset management, investment banking, consulting, advisory or a related field; experience in portfolio construction and risk management preferred.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills to develop data-driven portfolio decisions.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and writing skills to deliver clear recommendations to the Portfolio Strategy Meeting.
• Demonstrated work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across varying levels of seniority in a team-oriented environment.

Salary Range

The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $100000-$160000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
