ABOUT US

The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.

About the Role

The Salvation Army Housing is committed to changing lives by providing safe, affordable housing for people experiencing vulnerability in our communities. We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Asset Services Officer to support the management, maintenance and performance of housing assets across South Australia and Western Australia.

Reporting to the State Manager, you will coordinate property maintenance, refurbishment and asset upgrades, and provide technical advice to support the delivery of safe, compliant and sustainable housing outcomes for vulnerable community members.

The role is initial 12 month contract full-time position based in Ingle Farm.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the maintenance and operational performance of a diverse housing portfolio across SA and WA.
  • Coordinate and oversee property maintenance, refurbishment and asset improvement projects, ensuring works are delivered on time, within budget and to required standards.
  • Monitor and maintain asset compliance, safety and property standards in line with legislative and organisational requirements.
  • Provide expert advice on asset management, maintenance planning, procurement and contract management matters.
  • Procure, engage and manage contractors and suppliers, including assessing quotations, monitoring performance and ensuring compliance.
  • Track and monitor asset expenditure, contributing to effective budget management and long-term asset planning.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors and external partners to support responsive service delivery.
  • Prepare and analyse asset performance reports, providing insights and recommendations to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

About You

  • Strong contractor, procurement and budget management skills.
  • Proven ability to build effective stakeholder relationships and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical, communication and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and property or asset management systems.
  • Knowledge of social or community housing and asset lifecycle planning is highly regarded.

Requirements of the role:

  • A current and valid SA Working with Children Check is required.
