About the Team

As part of the Asset Protection department, you will help protect the company’s people, property, and profitability. The team plays a critical role in minimizing loss, identifying risks, and supporting a safe environment for associates and customers. Asset Protection team members are recognized for strong investigative and analytical skills, clear communication, process-driven thinking, and effective partnerships across departments and with outside agencies.

About the Role

The Asset Protection Investigator is a highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated professional who helps protect company assets and reduce risk across all brands and channels by using strong investigative and analytical skills to identify fraud, theft, policy violations, and Asset Protection concerns through EBR systems, transaction review, AI-assisted analysis, social networking platforms, incident reporting, ad hoc queries, and department reports. This role conducts timely investigations, develops case summaries, compiles documentation, and prepares investigative findings for the Asset Protection team, internal business partners such as Legal and HR, and, when appropriate, outside agencies including law enforcement and financial institutions. The Investigator also maintains department files and records in accordance with company standards and supports daily and weekly responsibilities, including case reporting, case auditing, PCI compliance hotlines, and CCPA review.

  • Own It: Proactively analyze and investigate associate and customer activity across retail stores and online channels to identify fraud, policy violations, and Asset Protection concerns using exception-based reporting, AI-assisted analysis, and department reporting.
  • Drive for Results: Conduct thorough investigations across all brands and channels into suspected internal and external fraud, theft, and policy violations, ensuring timely and objective case resolution.
  • Communicate with Clarity: Prepare and deliver accurate, well-documented investigations for the Asset Protection team and other internal departments such as Legal, HR, and, when appropriate, law enforcement partners or financial institutions.
  • Own It: Maintain department files, records, and investigative documentation in accordance with company standards and record-keeping requirements, while completing daily and weekly duties including case reporting, case auditing, PCI compliance hotlines, and CCPA review.
  • Communicate with Clarity: Document case activity and maintain accurate case management records to support trend analysis, statistical reporting, and senior leadership updates.
  • Achieve as One Team: Provide investigative support and expertise to Asset Protection Managers, Directors, the Vice President, and cross-functional partners including Legal, HR, and Risk Management to address complex risk-related issues.
  • Put People First: Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal business partners, law enforcement, financial institutions, associates, and customers while managing sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Create Solutions: Review systems and documentation to identify gaps, ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and Asset Protection standards, and recommend opportunities for improvement.
  • Create Solutions: Develop ad hoc queries, AI prompts, reports, and case summaries using data management and reporting tools to support investigations and informed decision-making.
  • Drive for Results: Complete special projects and additional responsibilities with urgency, adaptability, and commitment to departmental goals.

Technical Competencies Required

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in Asset Protection, retail, or care center environment.
  • Strong intermediate database and spreadsheet management skills, including Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and MicroStrategy.
  • Knowledge of social networking platforms and basic online investigative tools preferred but not required.
  • Experienced in AI-assisted analysis and reporting, is a plus.
  • Experience with exception-based reporting systems, such as Appriss Secure 5, is a plus.
  • Wicklander integrity interview certification preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to type on a keyboard and operate a PC.
  • Ability to communicate by telephone, Zoom and Teams.
  • Ability to work remotely.
