Reporting to the System Performance Manager, the Asset Performance Lead plays a central role in shaping how Anglian Water understands, monitors and improves asset performance throughout the full asset lifecycle. This is a unique opportunity to lead an analytics function with an engineering mindset at the heart of System Optimisation—bringing data, insight and innovation together to drive better decisions for our networks, our people and our customers.

In this role, you will lead a team to develop actionable insights, lead performance metrics, high-quality reporting and analytical products that transform the way we interact with our assets and networks. You will champion best practice in reporting, data governance and analytics, helping to modernise how information flows across the business. Your leadership will ensure insights are consistent, accurate, automated where possible, and aligned with stakeholder needs - enabling data driven asset decisions.

What you’ll be doing

As Asset Performance Lead, you will develop and enhance data quality processes, analytical and reporting products that drive asset performance across the full asset lifecycle. Your work will involve engaging with stakeholders across our Water Business Stream and wider operational teams to understand their data, analytical and reporting needs, ensuring outputs are technically robust, repeatable and aligned with business priorities. You will act as a subject‑matter expert in reporting lifecycle management, embedding strong governance – standardising definitions, improving quality and ensuring adherence to information management policies.

You will embed clear standards and operating procedures, using insight, engineering mindsight and evidence to improve operational performance and data quality. Through continuous improvement, you will help shape new system designs and optimise how assets are monitored, measured and managed.

Working alongside Data Owners and Stewards you will identify data quality issues through structured assessment and analytical investigation. You will dtermine root causes and collaborate with colleagues in OT, data architecture and operational functions to strengthen upstream data capture and enhance dataset integrity. A key part of your remit involves evaluating manual reporting and operational processes, identifying opportunities and leading the transition towards streamlined, scalable workflows using modern analytics and automation platforms.

As the technical lead and line manager for your team, you will manage work allocation, provide guidance and coaching, support development and ensure high quality reports outputs are delivered consistently and on time. You will support urgent operational needs by applying analytical expertise during incidents, conducting root‑cause analysis and supplying data and technical input for regulatory submissions, customer needs, APR processes, strategic programmes and business plans. You will also establish and maintain structured workflows, documentation and quality frameworks to improve analytical reliability and embed a “right‑first‑time” culture.

Finally, you will ensure newly developed reports and analytical products transition smoothly into to operational use, ensuring they are well‑documented, technically sound and ready for adoption by stakeholders. You will continue to identify efficiency, automation and optimisation opportunities across end‑to‑end reporting processes, supporting the wider Water Business Stream in its goal to deliver high‑quality, scalable, data‑driven insight at scale.

As a valued employee, you’ll be entitled to:
