Taranaki's transport network is critical to supporting regional growth, industry, tourism, and community connectivity. This role offers a rare opportunity to influence asset planning and maintenance decisions across a diverse network that connects urban centres, rural communities, and key freight routes

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

As Asset Manager, you'll provide asset management expertise and technical leadership to support the development and oversight of maintenance and renewal programmes across Taranaki’s state highway corridor. Working closely with contractors, local authorities, technical specialists, and internal stakeholders to ensure the network continues to perform today while planning for tomorrow.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and validating maintenance and renewal programmes.
  • Analysing network and pavement condition data.
  • Conducting inspections and field validation activities.
  • Managing asset data quality and reporting.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve network performance and maintenance outcomes.
  • Providing technical advice on land use developments and stakeholder matters.

Your work will directly support evidence-based investment and operational decisions that keep the region’s transport network running smoothly.

For more information view the Appointment salary is expected between $92,700 to $112,000 commensurate with skills and experience.

Ko koe tēnei | About you

You are an asset management professional who enjoys combining technical expertise with practical decision-making and stakeholder engagement. Ideally you will have:

  • Experience applying asset management principles and systems to transport infrastructure
  • Ability to interpret complex technical datasets and develop practical maintenance programmes
  • Understanding of pavement engineering and highway surface data
  • Experience in field validation, network inspections, and asset condition assessment
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Asset Management, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
