Position Information

The TxDOT Asset Management Branch is seeking a highly organized and motivated individual to fill an Asset Management Specialist position for our asset management team. This position provides support to the department headquarters and 25 district offices throughout the state. The ideal candidate will have experience in asset accounting; receiving, screening, and disposal of surplus property; and computer programs including Excel and asset management databases.

Performs inventory and asset management support work for the Support Services Division. Work involves maintaining asset accounting records and coordinating the disposition of surplus property for the Department. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.

Essential Duties:

· Monitors the Support Services division surplus warehouse electronic mailbox for surplus requests.
· Coordinates the transport and receipt of Department assets between districts/divisions and the surplus warehouse.
· Receives and evaluates surplus Department assets to determine the condition of the items and the appropriate disposition action.
· Photographs surplus items that are in good condition and creates posting for reuse within the Department or upload for public auction.
· Enters data and maintains records of inventory, transfers, and sale of surplus assets.
· Prepares and coordinates the disposition of Department assets for public auction.
· Provides customer service to TxDOT employees and the public by answering questions regarding surplus items available r transfer or auction; informs online action buyers of payment receipt dates and item pickup deadlines.
· Assigns new asset tags and reprints asset tags that are damaged or missing numbers.
· Coordinates and serves as a liaison for Fleet Operations Division vehicles and equipment titles.
· Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.

Experience:

1 year of experience in inventory, asset management, or related experience (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent) College education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Considerable knowledge of:
· Records inventory and appraisal
· Inventory Management Methods
· Inventory/stock control procedures

Proficient skill in:
· Maintaining property inventory and equipment, supplies or furniture
· Maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external customers
· Evaluating products, equipment and material
· Conducting inventory activities
· Maintaining a safe working environment
· Prioritizing and organizing work assignments to meet deadlines
· Using computers and applicable software

Ability to:
· Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

Other Attributes:
· Exercises logic and reasoning to define problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; makes decisions that support business objectives and goals

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions
• Medium work: Lift up to 50 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 25 lbs
• Stooping-bending body downward and forward by bending spine at waist
• Kneeling-bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee(s)
• Crouching-bending body downward and forward by bending leg(s) and spine
• Walking-moving on foot to accomplish tasks: long distance/from one work site to another
• Pushing-using upper extremities to press against object with force to move in a direction
• Pulling-using upper extremities to exert force moving objects in a sustained motion
• Lifting-raising objects from lower to higher position/horizontally to a different position
• Hearing-perceive sound at normal speaking levels; receive information by oral communication
