Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Vice President to join our Global Alternative Investment Solutions Operational Due Diligence (ODD) team focused on private credit investments. The role will be responsible for leading and executing initial and ongoing operational due diligence of private credit investment managers, with additional focus on assessing private credit secondary investments. In addition, the candidate is expected to contribute to selected projects aimed at ensuring our ODD program remains cutting edge and serve to strengthen and evolve our ODD framework, knowledge base, and the client-facing articulation of our program. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with investment, operations/finance, risk, legal and product structuring teams while maintaining independent judgment on manager operational risks, concerns, and sustainability practices.

Job Responsibilities

The candidate will be expected to deliver end-to-end ODD coverage and clearly communicate conclusions to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Lead and perform on-site (and virtual) manager diligence meetings on private credit managers across core components including infrastructure and staffing, third-party service providers/fund administrators, financial operations, legal & compliance, financing arrangements, and information technology/cybersecurity.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing monitoring diligence, including periodic refreshes and event-driven follow-ups.
  • Assess operational considerations specific to private credit secondary investments, including any incremental operational complexity and monitoring needs.
  • Prepare written diligence materials summarizing key findings, deficiencies, and recommended remediation/monitoring steps for internal use.
  • Present diligence conclusions at internal Investment Committee meetings and contribute to internal education sessions.
  • Partner with investment managers to identify practical solutions to remediate operational deficiencies identified through the ODD process and validate progress over time.
  • Help shape the firm’s point of view on private credit operational risk topics and implications for underlying managers and portfolios.
  • Work closely with Research, Marketing, Risk, Legal, Product Structuring and other internal groups; represent the firm externally and present ODD practices/findings to existing and prospective clients and other external audiences.
  • Contribute to projects that enhance the ODD program, keep the approach current, and strengthen how the program is communicated to clients.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

The following qualifications reflect the experience and “partner mindset” needed for this position.

  • 7+ years of industry experience, including 3+ years in an ODD role focused on private credit and private credit secondary investments at an alternative investment or advisory organization.
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to apply experience across a broad spectrum of alternative investment managers and operating environments to assess operational risks and relevant sustainability factors, identify concerns and form independent conclusions.

  • Knowledge of global capital markets and the factors driving those markets.

  • Demonstrated strength in external client engagement, including communicating with sophisticated investors in one-on-one and group settings; viewed as a thought leader and value-add partner (not a “check-the-box” reviewer).

  • Confidence and poise to interview senior investment manager counterparts (e.g., COO, CFO, Head of Operations, CCO) and to build/maintain strong internal and external relationships, including managers, third-party service providers, related vendors and industry peer groups.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

The following attributes are additive and align well to the due diligence skill set for this role.

  • Experience in private credit due diligence, fund administration, operations, accounting, bank credit and/or audit.
  • Concentration in Accounting/Finance.
  • MBA, CPA, JD, CAIA and/or CFA.
  • Prior people management experience.

The candidate will be based in New York and will report to the JPMorgan Alternative Solutions Group - Head of Operational Risk.
